Off the Shelf: new graphic novels for adults

sagaHere are some recent additions to our great adult graphic novel collection.  There are lots of exciting books being published lately, especially from independent publishers supporting creator owned works.  Enjoy!

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan
Vaughan returns to comics after a long hiatus working on serialized TV and he jumps back in with a bang on this new series featuring star crossed lovers in an epic space “saga” trying to protect their newborn babe.

Manhattan Projects by Jonathan Hickman
Hickman takes some time away from his successful superhero books to tell a wild, bizarre alternate history tale featuring scientists working on multiple Manhattan Projects.  Lots of famous historical figures behaving in strange and disturbing ways.

Saucer Country by Paul Cornell
A Latina governor from New Mexico is running to become President of the US with the added burden of once being abducted by aliens.  A wild tale from Paul Cornell.

Marbles: mania, depression, Michelangelo & me: a graphic memoir by Ellen Forney
The title pretty much says it all in this critically acclaimed memoir.

Building Stories by Chris Ware
This monumental achievement is garnering lots of praise for its amazing artwork and the unique format that it takes.  This box of books is filled with comics in many different forms.  Truly a sight to behold (and thumb through).

Road Rage by Joe Hill and Stephen King
A compilations of stories from the fertile minds of Joe Hill and his father, Stephen King about the dangers of the “Road” , bikers and long haul truckers.

Spaceman by Brian Azzarello
A wild story about Orson, a lonely loser who tries to overcome his personal failings to become more than the sum of his parts.

City in the Desert by Moro Rogers
Irro and Hari make a living hunting monsters, but when another entity puts an end to the spirits haunting the area, Irro is out of a job.  He and Hari then set out to discover why the trouble isn’t over however.
